A presentation at Cava Kalomenidis with Amoenos Vineyards and the Amyndeon “Bostani” wines took place on Friday, July 18th, in Ptolemaida.
Wine lovers from Western Macedonia had their first introduction to the wines of the second generation of the Alpha Estate.
Winemakers Emorfili and Konstantina Mavridou with Konstantinos Kontosoros presented the following wines at the tasting: Bostani White (Assyrtiko-Sauvignon Blanc), Bostani Rosé (Xinomavro-Syrah), Bostani Red (Xinomavro-Merlot).
The evening was accompanied by music selections from the wine cellar.
The 14th Balkan International Wine Competition took place in Naoussa from May 28th to 30th. International oenologists and Masters of Wine, including the first Greek MW Konstantinos Lazarakis, evaluated and scored Balkan wines after three days of tasting.

Furthermore, an important conference was held for the first time at the closing of the festival on Saturday, May 31st, dedicated to the future of Balkan wine, with the participation of winemakers, wine experts, journalists, and educators.
The work of the Great Greek Wines team, founded by Greek Master of Wine Yiannis Karakasis, once again reflects Greek wine and its promotion, including through this year’s competition for the great and award-winning Greek wines, which took place in early May at the Ace Hotel.
Regarding the event for the 65 Great Greek Wines 2025, from the 600+ wines from 200 wineries in Greece and Cyprus that were blind-tasted by distinguished international wine professionals, 10% of them were awarded, strengthening the weight of the awards.
Two new features that stood out at this year’s event:
- Wines with an excellent quality-to-price ratio and a retail price of up to 17 euros.
- Wines with respect for sustainability (reduced bottle weight), which is also a key axis of the philosophy of the Great Greek Wines team.

The WineClub of Cava Kalomenidis organizes a harvest festival at Kappa Estate (Naoussa) on Sunday 15 September 2024!
“A great company gathering to celebrate the harvest and the distillation.”
A few words about Kappa Winery. It’s been 30 years since he planted the first varieties in Anggelochori Naoussa. The winery is a vision of Tasos Karagiozidis. A business executive in Germany, he felt a taste for his place and returned to complete his father’s vision. Wines had excited him on his travels. The 10-acre vineyard in Naoussa hospitably welcomed a very modern winery with high standards. There, together with his partner Eleni Charalambaki, now the winery’s sales and events manager, and oenologist Antonis Alifrangis, they bottle 30,000 bottles of wine a year! A winery open to visitors, with dining, tasting and meeting rooms, available for weddings, christenings and events. There, if you are lucky enough to visit, you will hear Taso play his bouzouki.
The favorite spring event of the wineries opens its doors again and invites wine lovers to visit vineyards and tasting rooms!
The Wine Club 2008 of Cava Kalomenidis follows this time the Wine Roads of Goumenissa and invites you to the excursion organized by the Wine Club to wineries of the region.
Another journey of tasty delights, aromas and why not… the famous brass instrumentshttps://www.cavakalomenidis.gr/en/product-category/wine?filters=poikilia[xinomavro-negkoska-en] of the region awaits old and new members of the Wine Club 2008.
- With the vineyards spreading on the south-eastern slopes of Mount Paikos and with Xinomavro and Negoska (PDO Goumenissa) as the dominant varieties, the zone yields colourful, elegant and soft red wines, but other Greek and cosmopolitan varieties such as Assyrtiko, Malagouzia and Roditis, Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, etc. are also cultivated here.
